The battle between cable and satellite companies with networks over carriage fees spills further into the sports world with DirecTV (DTV -0.7%) indicating it won't carry Pac-12 sports channels this year. The commissioner of the Pac 12 isn't giving fans reason for optimism, saying they should "drop DirecTV and switch to one of the providers that carry it." The ability to buy this service a la carte is long long overdue.

Networks are beginning to get a bit more leverage and will eventually get their way. IMO.

I was trying to buy Direct TV service and they just blow. They advertise $25 basic package and free hd recievers. However in the cart, the cost is $59 for only 3 months, then it blows up to $106. So, we go from an advertised price of $25 to $106 in 3 months. This is due to charging you each for HD access...$10, really 10 years after HD comes out, we have to pay for it? $6 per box monthly fee, premium channels promotion expires $54 increase. Now you can cancel the premiums, and save some money...but they still screw you out of $87 with no premium channels and stuck with 120 channels of junk, and you still have to pay $35 for basic internet, and $15 for telephone all separately.

$137, how do they get away with such fraud? $25...but really...$137 and your tv choices suck.
