I am long afl as well, but am afraid the stock will take a hit tomorrow since book declined 11.6%. Travelers reported a big book decline after a great quarter was was down 2%

Yes, but TRV did miss on revenue as well. The market shouldn't be surprised, rising interest rates are wonderful news for insurers for the long term.

AFL holder for 20 years, no worries about short term news. Started buying AFL for my kids 15 years ago. life is good. Keep reinvesting the dividends and hope afl doesn't gets taken over in the next 15 years.

Same here. I'm a long term AFL holder. The decline in book value (per GAAP) is due to foreign exchange translation. It's not representative of actual book value. If you think of AFLAC as two different businesses, one operating in the US and one operating in Japan, it might paint a better picture. Since 80% of AFL's business is in Japan, it can be messy when translating into USD for gaap accounting.
