- The Defense Department has stressed that there are no plans to scrap Lockheed Martin's (NYSE:LMT) F-35 program or a project for a new long-range stealth bomber.
- Leaked documents had shown that canceling the programs were among the options under review as the Pentagon copes with huge budget cuts.
- On Wednesday, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel had said that cost reductions would require tradeoffs between maintaining the size of the military and high-end weapons programs.
- "This review identified...possible decisions we might face, under scenarios we may or may not face in the future," says Pentagon Spokesman George Little.
