Canadian Pacific rejects demand to help pay for disaster cleanup

Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) says it holds no financial responsibility for last month's Lac-Megantic train disaster, rejecting a legal demand by Quebec's government that it help pay for the cleanup in the devastated town; it plans to appeal the province’s legal order.

CP was the main contractor responsible for the crude oil shipment on the train that derailed and exploded, killing 47 people, Quebec says.
