Report: Full Google Glass launch not happening until 2014

Google (GOOG +1%) sources tell Computerworld Glass won't see a full commercial launch until 2014.

Eric Schmidt suggested as much in April, but subsequent reports pointed to a late-2013 launch.

For now, Glass is available only to select developers and contest winners, and goes for $1,500/unit. The display glasses continue to polarize outside observers (previous), with many critics remaining worried about the privacy issues raised by Glass' built-in camera.

In the meantime, fashion designers, public safety equipment suppliers, automakers, and even NBA GMs are dreaming up use cases.

Glass microdisplay supplier Himax (HIMX -4.8%) would undoubtedly like to see a commercial launch sooner rather than later.
