Illinois' second largest utility, a subsidiary of Ameren (AEE), says it will immediately begin acquiring right-of-way for a $1.1B transmission line after receiving approval from state regulators Tuesday to build most of the 400-mile-long high voltage line running from Quincy to Terre Haute, Ind.

AEE says the proposed 345K-volt line is the largest transmission project in its history and its largest single investment since the early 1980s.

Regulators denied or delayed construction of new or larger substations in some other locations.
