Ameren ready to start on $1.1B Illinois project

  • Illinois' second largest utility, a subsidiary of Ameren (AEE), says it will immediately begin acquiring right-of-way for a $1.1B transmission line after receiving approval from state regulators Tuesday to build most of the 400-mile-long high voltage line running from Quincy to Terre Haute, Ind.
  • AEE says the proposed 345K-volt line is the largest transmission project in its history and its largest single investment since the early 1980s.
  • Regulators denied or delayed construction of new or larger substations in some other locations.
