Yahoo revamps top properties, gives them new ad formats


Yahoo (YHOO -2.2%) Sports, Music, Movies, TV, omg, and Games have been given major design overhauls, and have joined Yahoo News and the Yahoo.com home page in sporting personalized news feeds.

Yahoo is also introducing two recently-launched ad formats - Stream Ads and Billboards - to the properties. Stream Ads, which appear within the news feeds, bear a strong resemblance to Facebook's successful Sponsored Stories. Billboards are the large, costly, interactive ads that have become a staple of Yahoo's home page. The formats are also being brought to Yahoo Mail.

Critics of the design changes are taking aim on Twitter.
