American and US Airways want earlier trial date in battle with DOJ

  • Lawyers for American Airlines (AAMRQ.PK) and US Airways (LCC -0.1%) will file a motion with the court to ask for a November trial date in the case filed by the DOJ to block their merger instead of waiting until next March.
  • The carriers point out that the DOJ has studied the American-US Airways combination for over 16 months - twice the length of time of an average review.
