American and US Airways want earlier trial date in battle with DOJ

Lawyers for American Airlines (AAMRQ.PK) and US Airways (LCC -0.1%) will file a motion with the court to ask for a November trial date in the case filed by the DOJ to block their merger instead of waiting until next March.

The carriers point out that the DOJ has studied the American-US Airways combination for over 16 months - twice the length of time of an average review.
