- Jarden (NYSE:JAH) has reportedly agreed to acquire Yankee Candle, the biggest maker of scented candles in the U.S., for $1.75B from private-equity owner Madison Dearborn Partners. The deal could be announced today.
- The transaction fits in with Jarden's strategy of operating leading brands in specialized niches, such as Crock-Pot slow cookers and Rawlings baseball equipment.
- Yankee Candle operates around 560 stores in the U.S. and Canada, and earned profit of $56.3M in 2012 on sales of $844.2M.
