iRobot obtains injunction against Chinese vacuum robot maker

A German court has ruled vacuum cleaner robots made by China's Shenzhen Silver Star infringe parts of 4 iRobot (IRBT +2.1%) patents granted by the EPO, and has placed injunctions on hardware sales. (PR)

iRobot asserts its over 395 patents (200+ from the USPTO), 37 of which are related to its Roomba vaccum cleaner robots. Home robot sales (Roomba and otherwise) accounted for 89% of iRobot's Q2 revenue. 66% of the company's total sales were to international buyers.

In July, iRobot sued four European companies in Germany over claims the Ecogenic AA3400 vacuum robot (made by European home appliance maker Solac) infringes five of its patents.
