iRobot obtains injunction against Chinese vacuum robot maker

  • A German court has ruled vacuum cleaner robots made by China's Shenzhen Silver Star infringe parts of 4 iRobot (IRBT +2.1%) patents granted by the EPO, and has placed injunctions on hardware sales. (PR)
  • iRobot asserts its over 395 patents (200+ from the USPTO), 37 of which are related to its Roomba vaccum cleaner robots. Home robot sales (Roomba and otherwise) accounted for 89% of iRobot's Q2 revenue. 66% of the company's total sales were to international buyers.
  • In July, iRobot sued four European companies in Germany over claims the Ecogenic AA3400 vacuum robot (made by European home appliance maker Solac) infringes five of its patents.
