Whole Foods Market to enter new urban areas

Whole Foods Market (WFM) continues to strike deeper into urban areas with a new store planned for the south side of Chicago falling outside of its typical target area.

The company was enticed by Chicago politicians to become an anchor in a developing city project - instead of jumping into well-established urban sprawl.

The new stores will test the grocery chain's ability to pass on premium prices to consumers.

The store in Detroit is doing better than all expectations. If it works there it will do well in Chicago.
