3M gets $80M helmet contract from government


3M (MMM +0.7%) subsidiary Ceradyne gets an $80M delivery order from the government for 77K combat helmets for use by the Marine Corps.

The helmets "provide improved ballistic and fragmentation protection over any fielded helmet in history."

Delivery will begin this fall. (PR)

    about 10x the price of my ski helmet.

     

    my ski helmet protects for trauma,
    not bullets and fragments.

     

    i just hope the troops in harm way get the best protection possible
