I love it, we haven't had a TV or cable-satellite subscription in almost 5 years now. Patiently waiting for sports to make the jump to Web and mobile as a separate subscription.

Media companies are desperately hanging on to a subscription business that is being pulled from under them due to stubbornness and lack of recognition of future consumer preferences.

I wouldn't be surprised if 10 years from now HBO, ESPN, etc. are separate spinoffs and purely Internet-TV programs.

2020 is a long ways away. by that time NFLX current model could be entirely deprecated. I find these forecasts extrapolating current environment so far into the future to be asinine.

Challengers to Netflix in the future? Certainly that is a strong possibility. But, then again, for the last three years we have been hearing of challengers to Netflix and, although there are indeed a few competing services now, none of them are really taking on Netflix head-on.

If someone in the US wants one-stop shopping for a huge, diversified selection of both old and recent movies and shows at a low FIXED monthly price, the only real choice at this time is to get a subscription to Netflix streaming, along with the Netflix DVD service.
