EuroVegas project at risk for Las Vegas Sands

Though Sheldon Adelson's vision to develop a $22B casino complex near Madrid for Las Vegas Sands (LVS -0.9%) always had an air of being a mirage in the desert - now the project is truly at risk.

A harsh anti-smoking law instituted by Madrid's regional government is a potential deal-breaker to Las Vegas Sands, and so far, no plans to amend the law are in place.

LVS investors have had a love-hate relationship with the EuroVegas project, with some likely to cheer a demise of the planned investment.

So there is a chance to aid the terrible unemployment issue in Spain and they refuse to lessen their non-smoking laws to encourage Mr. A's investment there...Oh well...I am sure with Japan possibly legalizing gambling the money earmarked for Spain will find the yen in Japan..

Do any of these bureaucrats think people are going to start smoking because LVS allows it in the casinos. More Europeans smoke than anywhere on the planet. More Europeans don't like to work either. Maybe we should Look to a nation that Likes work and smoking is the peoples option. Apparently the Spaniards don't like either.
