They can't taper without crashing markets and rising rates for treasuries - between a rock and a hard place.

The fact that Republicans don't want to look like they want more debt come re-election in 2014 means they won't or can't vote for a rise in the debt ceiling come October. The fact they are bringing Obamacare into the mix makes things even worse.

The last time we had this issue, gold rose $500 an ounce in 3 months after S&P lowered the U.S. credit rating. With Obama leaving and the Republicans ok with drowning the economy so they can win in 2014 and 2016, this very well could be the Perfect Storm.

Seems to me that the Republicans want to trade raising the debt ceiling for trimming spending or some sort of corporate tax reform (neither which will drown the economy and business tax reform should help the economy).

I love it... Gold looked a little scarry for a bit, but wow what a huge pop... I am long a couple miners as well and they are up 8 and 10% on the news.

No tapering is a beautiful thing...

As an owner of PMs it's a good thing. As an American, it's pitiful.

PM + Gold rally is crazy today after 2pm announcement. I wonder where we'd be if there had never been the taper BS and the gold price suppression.

Yea, as I look at a long term prospects for this country, the way it is going I'm disgusted at my own joy of profiting from it as it goes into the crapper. I'm happy short term, but I know long term I'll be crying. I guess Canada is always the option :P.

Looks like I called it right - as I said, they can't taper. No need to tell you where this is headed.
