    Whilst this may not be as large as the recent 21.74% increase in the MSFT dividend, I'm grateful for any dividend increase for the great American stocks I hold. Thank you MCD!

    Full thoughts about the MCD raise here: http://bit.ly/1bseLmU. In short, the raise itself is not nearly as bad as the 5 percent that the headlines are focusing on, but it certainly looks like MCD's dividend growth rate is on the decline

    The point is without earnings growth, dividends cannot increase quickly. They can do so slowly, if the company also buys back shares. Dividend financed with debt is not good, but debt-financed share buybacks may be OK if the cost of interest is less than the cost of paying a dividend...
