Okay... here's the thing. Whether you are a Rep or a Dem, in your heart you have to admit that the Congressional Republicans are playing a completely silly game here. They want ObamaCare repealed, right? That is what they have publicly stated is the focus of this debt ceiling debate. Here is a news flash --- that is NEVER going to happen. N-E-V-E-R. Period. End of discussion. Everyone knows that it will NEVER be repealed under this administration.

Therefore, this is all political grandstanding to the max. That is what really irritates me. Everyone knows that and still it goes on. So yes, a POX on both the Republicans and the Democrats. They all deserve to lose their jobs. But people get the type of government they deserve and this is exactly what people decided they wanted in the elections of 2010 and 2012.

By the way, if voting REALLY mattered... the powers that be would have taken it away from us by now.

WisPokerGuy, you are correct. The congressional Republicans are playing a silly game. They actually do not want to spend money they don't have. Completely crazy. Now, if they can only eliminate all the "special exemptions" that Obama has granted his donors and the Federal employees and their unions, that would truly be crazy silly. Budgets, smudgets, just print some more money....

You're missing the point. Congress is currently debating whether to raise the DEBT CEILING. That is money that has ALREADY been spent. I don't know what relationship you have with your creditors, but mine usually want payment when they deliver a service. Saying "I don't feel like it" usually isn't received very well and it won't be received very well in this instance either.

Last time I checked the Constitution, the legislative branch was in control of the finances of this country. The fact that there hasn't been a budget passed in the country for the better part of a decade proves my point that the people comprising this system cannot (or will not) work together. Therefore, they should all go. Republicans and Democrats. Wasting time over arguing about a law (ObamaCare] that has been passed and has no chance of being repealed while this current administration is in power is simply a complete WASTE OF TIME. The Tea Party people can bang their drum all that want but that facts are the facts. It's NEVER going to happen. Move on.

Throw the Republicans and Democrats out. I mean all the way out, as in deportation. Let the illegal immigrants stay (at least they'll put in a day's work).

Still waiting for the main attraction, the debt ceiling "chicken" game. Don't think this will spook the market participant enough to make the shares cheap enough.

Looking forward to that nice 10%+ sell off that's hopefully coming.

Our political "leaders" in congress are concerned about their personal careers and put that before what's good for the country. Don't we deserve better?

You'd like to think so. But when you consider that almost 85% of currently serving elected officials in Congress are re-elected even when the approval rating of Congress is about 15%, I'll continue to stand by my statement above. The people of this country are getting the political representation they deserve. Why? Because they voted for it.

Actually, we have been told that we will have to wait until "we" pass the bill to see what is in it. Now we know. I would like to see the bill that was passed and signed by President Obama put into practice on Oct 1. I do not see how it is possible that they have granted "exemptions" to thousands of fat-cat rich donor-crony businesses and screwed the individuals. What ever happened to the law that was signed by Obama? Why can't the individuals get a one year delay just like the fat-cat Obama donors?

@ interesting times. You I'm sure understood it better than me before for It even greased through the senate on a party line vote. I'm just a simpleton but knew this was the first step to a single payor healthcare system that will backfire and become a beacon for private insurance for those who work and can afford the cash to pay for it. This is still The USA and free markets will rule again in our lifetime. Forget postponing it, bring it on so everyone one on every side can see this colossal train wreck for themselves and tell the pundits and congress they don't know JACK for what's good for them and simpletons like myself.

How can affordable health care insurance be bad for40million, previously uninsured Americans ? The big company's are fearful of scrutiny, of ripoff techniques.
