Staples buys e-commerce firm

Staples (SPLS +1.9%) announces it bought e-commerce site Runa for an undisclosed amount.

The acquisition should give Staples a technology platform that it can use to sell more personalized products from its website.

The big picture: Staples pulled out of the Amazon lockers program and launched Staples Connect this summer in moves that make it appear it's ready to take on the Seattle giant in its own area of expertise.
