Apple reportedly hosting iPad event on Oct. 22

AllThingsD, which has provided accurate scoops about Apple (AAPL) launch event dates in the past, reports Apple will unveil a 5th-gen regular iPad and retina iPad Mini at an Oct. 22 event. A new Mac Pro and the latest version of Mac OS X (Mavericks) will also reportedly "get some stage time."

Both new iPads are said to feature Apple's 64-bit A7 CPU (found in the iPhone 5S). In-line with past rumors, the 5th-gen iPad is said to be thinner/lighter than its predecessor. Others have reported the tablets will also have Touch ID fingerprint sensors.

Reuters reported last week the retina Mini "could be available in only limited quantities this year, if at all," thanks to display manufacturing issues.

And this is why I said the earnings report was later than usual, makes perfect sense.

if the selloff happens, I would buy more shares since I have a feeling that the share price will be above $500 after the earning report.

Yes, and it will probably only sell multiple millions of units in 3 days, just like the recent iPhone flop.

The Ipad event and earnings will be meaningless if the politicians are still fighting. Maybe a 60 minute pop but then trending lower as we've all seen after any good news from AAPL is reported.

The iphone 5C is in groovy coloured Carbon Fibre, not plastic.

Do they make formula one racing cars out on plastic? NO!
Formula one racing cars are made from the same material as
the iPone 5C - this being Carbon Fibre as it is extremely strong.
Samsung use plastic - breaks and scratches.

Wow..... you aapl build can really get delusional at times.

In case you don't get it, Samsung uses polycarbonate for its casing and now aapl is doing the same. Please don't pretend it's special "aapl" carbon fiber lol

Samsung has flat out denied it:

Maybe that denial is worth as much as Steve Jobs denying that AAPL would ever release a small tablet or a large phone. LOL

Samsung has denied it? LOL. It is fact. We know the processors were set up to pull a disproportionate amount of power for tasks that are used to benchmark.

Samsung is run by criminals. Lee, the CEO, is a two-time convicted felon for tax evasion and bribing government officials. He should be in jail. So, you go ahead and believe that crook, ChopChop.

As long as they produce what the customers want, I don't care. AAPL has time and time again ignored the growing customer base that appreciates larger screens, better battery life, and replaceable battery/memory cards.

wigit5: Where is the shame in buying what you want and not buying what you don't want?

Wigit5, EXACTLY! No one was looking as the AAPL moat was slowly drained the last few years. If you don't give the customers what they want, they will find someone who does. Tim Cook realized this and started making the IPad Mini to compete with Google and Amazon. A big IPhone (the IPhone6) will probably come in 2014, nearly 2-3 years after it should have and it will be yet another contradiction from what Steve Jobs said AAPL would do.

ISpank, get a clue and let me know when an IPhone actually has something I want in it.

The Post Office is not funded by the US Govt. Congress gets to tell them how to run the business, but funding is done through their own revenue.

Using a baseball analogy here's how I see it: If they release a retina mini in significant volume (along with iPad 5) it will be a home run. If they release the retina mini with low volume availability it will be a 'double' (2nd base). If they don't release a new mini at all or it doesn't have the retina display then it's a 'walk' to first base with the ipad 5.

If the government is in default or pending default it could shift the spotlight some and override a more positive short term stock reaction but Apple needs to do this before earnings and the holidays. If it's a great rollout but the stock gets hit hard anyway due to Washington then that could set up as a great buying opportunity before earnings.

well, tha china licence only runs until January, although I;m sure it can be extended. It was given in late August i think, so....crikey....they must be able to strike a deal by now, unless there is some major brinkmanship going on. Perhaps the strong sales of the 5s has made appl dig their heels in?

Here we have it: Apple is the largest and most profitable company in the world. Apple is the world's most valuable brand ($98 billion). They have the largest cash reserves. All their products always sell out as soon as they are released. Every second person in world either has or wants at least one Apple product. Every quarter for the last 20 years Apple have either met, but in most cases exceeded analyst's expectations.

So, WTF is wrong with those knockers?

Will they still knock Apple when the share price hits $550?

I suppose they still will, because some people can never be satisfied.

I don't own any apple product yet. However, I just ordered an iphone 5s Gold because of the TouchID reviews. I used to have a laptop with biometric but that thing doesn't work well. If the new Ipad has touchID, I would buy them for my kids.
