Ford's road in China keeps getting smoother

Ford (F +0.8%) could end up the year with 5% of the market share in China, predicts a top exec.

Though still trailing Volkswagen and GM by a wide margin, Ford has done well considering its late start in the nation.

A higher mix of SUV sales in the second half of the year could help the automaker improve profitability in Asia as a whole.

I am long F and encouraged by its estimated earnings growth at F.A.S.T. Graphs of 11.8%. At MSN Money, F earnings have positively surprised each quarter since June of 2012 and are estimated to grow 14.7% in 2014 and at a rate of 11.6% for the following five years.

Alan has said "no" every time this issue comes up. He says he is happy at Ford's, and has no plans to retire at least until after 2014, and he has Bill Ford and the Board of Director's full support to stay at the helm indefinitely. Nothing has changed there.

These stories about Alan leaving Ford's and going to "Company X" have resurfaced at least a half-dozen times in the last year or so, and have proven over and over to be pure canards - made-up gossip by unscrupulous media outlets, reporters desperately trying to stir up the waters and grab headlines to sell papers and internet advertising. Nothing more.

Of course, no company would deny that they would covet having Alan Mulally come over to help them out. When Alan does eventually retire and joins Ford's Board of Directors and continues as CEE (Chief Executive Emeritus) or something, there will be a lot of demand for his services on other Boards as well...

Yes, Microsoft says they have "talked" with Alan Mulally. Who wouldn't, and who hasn't?
