Airline traffic holds up despite government shutdown

The 10-day old government shutdown hasn't led to any significant decrease in flights so far.

Less than 1% of flights from major carriers have been canceled during the period with weather a factor in many of those.

Still, airline insiders warn the shutdown hasn't hit a tipping point in duration just yet which could affect the number flight delays and cancellations.

Shut down was likely a positive for airlines considering so many of the government workers getting paid vacations, lol

How could a government worker take off on vacation? Suppose an East-Coaster does so, and just as they land in Hawaii, the worker is declared essential and must return.

The non-essential workers are sitting around like fire fighters at the firehouse, awaiting to be summoned to duty.

It possibly has ended, but living in Washington means that we are continuously surrounded by a blanket of hot air and fog spewing forth from Capitol Hill, 24x7x365.

For all I know, my yard has drifted away weeks ago, but I cannot see it each morning when I walk down my driveway to claim my WSJ, Washington Post, and USA Today.
