Shutdown gives slight edge to Boeing: FT

The government shutdown has apparently given Boeing (BA -0.5%) a slight edge in its dogfight with rival Airbus (EADSF.PK) for commercial aviation supremacy.

BA has the authority to inspect and approve some planes in the absence of FAA certification procedures.

This "Organizational Designation Authorization" has allowed the company to make deliveries during the shutdown while Airbus has already missed four deliveries to U.S. customers "because they have been unable to receive FAA registration," FT notes.
