Land of Milk and Honey
First one is a crummy read. The point of foreign aid is to have influence & relations with a foreign government for political reasons. It's not about human aid & never claimed to be. So the book's premise is faulty.
The NYTimes article on that book (what's linked to) is faulty, but goes even farther. It's bad journalism to pull a few chapters out of the end of a book, and post it as the theme of the book. It's either bias for selling by posting a sensational headline instead of an accurate one. Or it's bias to wave a political position that the paper prefers to wave.
I'm unimpressed that SA picked this as a read.
