Wal-Mart to offer free shipping for online orders over $50

Wal-Mart (WMT -0.4%) says it will offer free shipping on all online orders over $50.

The aggressive initiative could put a little pressure on Amazon (AMZN -1.4%) and Target (TGT -0.9%) to come up with more online incentives of their own.

Awesome. It's a win for the customers. I'm a customer first and investor second. Free shipping should become the norm of online shopping! :)

They have had this $50 for free-shipping all along. Nothing new. And an impotent one competing against Amazon ($25 for non-prime customers) and $0 at Target for their RedCard credit card holders (plus a 5% discount).
Walmart should instead focus leveraging their B&M footprint and offer an across-the-board free ship-to-store, which right now is a hit and miss affair and aggravates the shopping experience at Walmart.com
