GM's nine-month sales rise 4.6%; still bigger than VW

  • General Motors' (GM) nine-month global sales grew 4.6% to 7.25M vehicles.
  • Q3 deliveries +5.5% to almost 2.4M, with the biggest increases in North America and the International Operations unit, which includes China,
  • Nine-month sales of GM and its partners in China climbed 11% to 2.31M, with Cadillac shipments jumping 51%. Sales of the marque in the U.S. increased 7.6%.
  • Globally, GM remains ahead of Volkswagen, whose nine-month sales rose 4.8% to 7.03M, although the German car giant has overtaken its U.S. rival in China so far this year with sales of 2.35M. Toyota (TM) hasn't yet released its nine-month figures.

    Although VW sold 2.35 million versus GM's 2.31 million (difference of 40,000 vehicle - less than 5%) , GM vehicles are more expensive, so GM probably made more money. I still prefer GM!
