Starbucks tries to defuse pricing issue in China

  • Starbucks (SBUX) exec John Culver says the company's profits in China are no higher than the U.S. as he attempts to defuse protests over the level of coffee prices charged to Starbucks customers in the nation.
  • The cautious answers by Culver in his interview with the Financial Times seem to indicate that the company expects to have to negotiate with the government on the pricing issue.
