Nice work Mike and your recent article painted the entire picture and not just "oh it's all about mobile - DO OR DIE."

Microsoft is a conglomerate of technology like GE or DOV are with industrials.

Only thing left to do is remove stack-ranking review system and you will see a totally different company with value unlocking like a waterfall. I pledge to complain about it every single MSFT comment on this site until it happens lol

I use an RT for work on the road. One of the more useful (for productivity) tablets on the market.

Just like $GOOG. Huge miss last quarter leads to tremendous take down of expectations to fuel beat this quarter. Only $MSFT was more impressive than $GOOG.

Microsoft sold $400 million in Surface RT tablets after price drop. Looks like they found the sweet spot, and reduced that inventory so its no longer a liability. Also reduces the chances of a firebrand sale on them at holidays time.

That 400M number is huge, since they weren't able to live it down until now.

Totally agree. $400 million on a new product line? Ballmer is having the last laughs and he isn't through.

    Go go $MSFT!

Sitting at $35.53 in A.H. and the fat dividend is just around the corner, and more covered call premiums every month.

    I love this company!

How can such an unsexy company, with so many bloggers and experts saying sell or stay away, snuggle up to its 52 week high with a huge quarter?

Just goes to show you, turn off the noise, check and recheck your investment thesis on why you bought in the first place, and stay the course so long as that thesis stays valid. Ignoring the multitude of naysayers is difficult, but like today it has its rewards.

Wonder how much of that is related to the dollar having lost almost 8% of its value since MS last earnings' release ?

    june,
    spot on.
But whatever the cause, figures are figures and a $ is a $, at least for US residents.
Having said that, I expect USD to gain vs the € next week: the plunge has been too strong lately. Germany won't like that.
