Hey Boeing! Why not move the 767 line to Long Beach as the C-17 winds down & use the present 767 area for additional 737 assembly??

A move like that would costs 100's of millions and take 3 years for them to complete. If they were to make a move on any of those lines they would go to the south and save a ton on the lower wage rates down there, to high of overhead costs in California anyway.
No way they are going to make a move like that and not get it into a non-union environment. After the last strike McNerney will do everything he legally can to kill the unions and get the work into a right-to-work state. They are on a long term move completely out of Washington. They Seattle Mafia killed the future of people in the Northwest. It may take 20 years but they will be gone.

Boeing has yet to modernize its factories with automation to meet the world need of 35,000 new aircraft over the next twenty years

Long Beach once has the 4th assembly line for the 737NG in 1997
Renton airport only has 1000 feet long runway
the 737-max-development-coat will be twice as much as the A320NEO

Boeing is also making room in south Caroline for the 737Max subassembly and engineering in California

Boeing has study moving the 737 to Everett or Kansas for years
since the most all the part are build in Kansas
there was the 4th assembly line for the 737NG in 1997 at Douglas
or replacing the 737 with Yellowstone project
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

The 767 only has 51 aircraft to be assembly
The 747-8 only has 59 aircraft to be assembly

the 787-10 which is too long and the 777-X is too wide too be assembly Everett and will be assemble in south Caroline
soon there will plenty of move to assemble the 737MAX in Everett or south Caroline or California as the 2ns assemble line for the 737MAX

No wonder Boeing is one of the worst rated companies to work at. They have billions in orders and stock yet they still treat and pay their employees like crap!

They could easily move extra production to Long Beach if they wanted and it would not cost anymore and the planes would be built correctly. A lesson they still have not learned from outsourcing the 787.

Lot of Boeing buildings are shutting down in California. The latest are in Seal Beach, than the Long Beach C17 line.

This company must have a guardian angel looking over it, since it is run by greedy idiots that could not manage to get out of a paper bag!

I will not fly a Boeing plane built in the south. Sorry, but many friends and relatives work for Boeing and have told me stories about the new assembly plants.

Right-to-work states mean high school dropouts and people living in near poverty putting the planes together. Plus, Boeing hardly ever gives raises to non salary employees. Maybe that is why they hate unions and move to red areas and states?

Hey fredneal, I'll take the workers over Boeing management any day. At least you won't find a worker banging his secretary on his desk like they did with Condit.

You do not work for Boeing do you!
your should call the union and get a list of the pay scale and list of benefits for IAM employee and Speea employee
What Boeing need to do is pay the union by the jobs or pieces work
Boeing has deliver 89 787 in ten years and 52 747-8 in two years that 141 aircraft not including 777,767,737 military and the stock is over 100
how much profit did Boeing make from 89 787 and 52 747 ?
and Boeing is laying off !

Boeing is being managed by MacDonald managers
total BS your statement is not support by the facts! see
    http://bit.ly/11GHBIC
this is not the Seattle times!

Douglas, McDonnell, North American Aviation and Hughes Aircraft has kept Boeing afloat since 1996

After CEO Phil Condit resign Boeing is run now being run by
GE Jim McNerney is from GE and 3M alone with CEO Harry C. Stonecipher and member of the board of director

The union workforce in Seattle would take a work break and assembly 10 787 per months defect fee alone with the other program then management would have no reason to move the work and the assembly line to Utah, Montana, California, south Caroline ect
In the last 40 years Boeing has a become Multination Corporation
that build built 70 % of commercial aircraft in 70 countries and 25 state
Boeing-GE has sold off the manufacturing infrastructure to other company 35% of the 787 is build in japan see Manufacturing and suppliers at http://bit.ly/Hmnf1I

Boeing is also making room in south Caroline for the 737Max subassembly and engineering in California

there are union in right to work state like Lockheed in Texas

but where were Boeing union when Boeing off load 70% of the work load since 1943 !
during the last strike IAM membership took a one time pay of $5900 to drop ALL law suited over off loading

Boeing still must design and test all the 737 max parts and build flight test parts, flight test wing and build flight test 737max -7, 737max -8 and 737max -9 and there a FAA 18 month to 24 months flight test programs

The 737 was design in 1966 that base on the 707 in 1958, that has been updated with turbo fan engines, glass cockpit and winglets
The 737Max still has 17.2 wide seat, manual cargo loading systems no composite parts to save weight, the 737 max will need a redesign tail under body fairing, reinforce wing, new engine ploy and engines nacelle , longer landing gears for the propellers will not hit the ground , and reinforce aircraft undercarriage, all these improvement will add weight and the Renton airport only has 1000 feet long runway

The list of indictments of Boeing Chairman and CEO W. James McNerney Jr. continues to grow. His administration at Boeing began in 2005 at about the same time as development of the 787 began in earnest. All of the delays and flaws of the project have happened on his watch.
Jim" McNerney, the CEO got a 27 million bones and Ray Conner get 60,000 share of stock

The 179 kc-46 should be replace with 179 C-17 tankers then the Air Force could have a prove aircraft that can take the place of the 707 military platforms
the C-17 was design to used as tanker, weapon delivery platform, cargo aircraft , troop carries, AWACS and commercial freighter as the MD-17
    Per MDC93K0048

I hope you realize the Boeing track record on military contracts is because they are being managed by MacDonald managers who never had to meet delivery or cost while under the direction of John McDonnell.
They could not even find a company to merge with them when Stonecipher drug the company under before the Merger with Boeing. All he ever had for a track record was to bankrupt Allied and then Mackydee. When he got to Seattle and Condit & him split up the bonus shares they started pushing Mackydee managers and have not stopped yet.
Not a bright future for Boeing while McNerney is there, he does not have a clue how to build an airplane or manage the people who do know how.
None of these issues that have come forth in the last decade would have happened if they had made Mulalley CEO and let him run the company.
