The FT reports Google (GOOG +0.1%) is planning to substantially increase Glass production volumes going into Christmas. Existing Glass owners (of which there are currently only ~10K) will be able to invite a small number of friends to buy the headgear.
However, sources add a full commercial launch isn't expected until mid to late 2014.
Glass microdisplay supplier Himax (HIMX +1%) spiked higher on the report, but has quickly given back most of its gains
Developer support for Glass has grown considerably this year, and plenty of industries have come up with use cases. But the broader public is still concerned about the privacy issues caused by Glass' built-in camera.
