Alcatel-Lucent's net losses drop

  • Alcatel-Lucent's (ALU) Q3 net loss narrowed to €200M from €316M a year earlier and came in better than analyst expectations of €274M. The latest results include restructuring charges of €117M and financials charges of €218M.
  • Revenues rose 1.9% to €3.67B and also surpassed consensus.
  • Alcatel-Lucent swung to an adjusted operating profit of €116M from a loss of €126M last year
  • Revenues at the company's core networking segment rose 6% at constant exchange rates; adjusted operating income was 6.1% of revenues vs 0.2% last year.
  • Alcatel-Lucent expects strong seasonal activity to drive its Q4 business, while it also projects that fixed-costs savings will hit the top end of its €250-300M target. Year-to-date savings have reached €259M. (PR)

    Finally, ALU is making the comback we were all anticipating beating all expectations with guidance for a superb 4th quarter. MA BELLE IS ALIVE AND WELL AND LIVING IN PARIS!

    That's much better than I expected. Now, like AMD, etc. I expect the stock to collapse : (

     

    Manipulation abounds.

     

    For me, yet another buy signal. I got ALU coming out of my ears now.

    Patience Andreas, just wait until end of December you will hear more good news in Jan. Manipulations can't change medium to long term progress.

     

    AMD is not comparable to ALU. ALU is more diversified in it's product space. Also leader in certain segments, choose your bets carefully.

    For those of you too young, Ma Bell was the nickname for the old AT&T before the firm was broken up in the early 1980s, Bell Laboratories, the R&D arm and the heart of the firm was spun off to eventually become Lucent!

    Up 17,78% in Europe. Maybe the manipulators can't AMD that thing. Good that I kept buying and - good for you who entered around 2nd October! Let's hope, larger investors realise ALU's longer-term potential.
