USPTO affirms validity of Vringo patent, shares +6.1% premarket

The USPTO has affirmed the validity of all claims challenged by Google within Vringo's (VRNG) '664 patent, one of the two patents a Virginia jury has ruled Google, AOL, IAC, and others are infringing. (PR)

The USPTO ruling comes as appeals proceedings continue (previous). Vringo and the companies accused of infringement have already submitted briefs and expert reports to the district court handling the suit, and responsive briefs are due from both parties on Sunday. After that, the parties are set to meet within five days (per court orders) to determine an appropriate royalty rate.
