EPA said to consider changes to advanced biofuel draft

Obama administration officials, under pressure from producers of advanced biofuels, reportedly have told industry reps that they’re considering raising the quota for their product next year above what was contained in an August draft plan.

EPA officials are said to have indicated plans to offer a range for the mandate that would allow it to increase from the 2.21B gallons set in the leaked draft plan, but the range could still leave the final quota below the 3.75B gallons set by the 2007 legislation establishing the program.

cut in bioethanol would still hurt. as it is biodiesel production well ahead of mandated vols. the drop off of demand from refiners hitting the blend wall and still being obliged to purchase renewables to hit mandates will hurt biodiesel an d continue to depress rins price..

i don't see this affecting SZYM anytime soon. Right now they are ramping up on food products (Unilever), and personal products (algenist), which have better margins than biofuel. I think many WallStreet analysts are incorrectly viewing SZYM as a biofuel company, when they should be viewing them as a food/personal care processor-type of company.

agreed. this is the best buying opp for szym right now. huge sell off all bc it pushed back the plant open 3 months. giving them tremendous opp to sell their product now as things get finalized in brazil. enjoy this discount. the stock will surge in '14/'15 on their health enhancements reshaping the profiles of many foods. this @ the moment has nothing to do with biofuel. nothing, at, all.

Big FUD affecting REGI today. It starts out spiking 10%, then plunges 20%, now back up to just below last close. Crazy. People just don't know how to value this stock.

I think eventually the EPA will do the right thing and considerably raise the obligation for biodiesel. It has none of the food/land use changes facing ethanol, the greenhouse gas profile is about the best of any biofuel, and there is available capacity.

Anyone not in complete denial sees that the world is going haywire due to warming. Haiyan was juiced by ocean surface temperatures that were 4-5C above normal, creating the highest wind speeds in decades. Just the latest warming-driven catastrophe. I don't think the EPA wants sitting on their hands as their legacy when people look back a few years from now.

DuPont's hubris-heavy Management with their uneconomical DuPont corn cob "gasoline" is determined to jam this engine-wrecking, bad-mileage ethanol down our tanks! Let the marketplace decide supply and demand not slippery lobbyists in the shadows of legislative halls and back-offices of regulators! ...funfun..

The only reason SZYM was even mentioned was that it will hurt ADM and Solazyme has ties with them. As far as any affect to SZYM- NONE at least I don't believe it will.
