Emirates could buy up to 50 superjumbos

Emirates is reportedly in discussions with Airbus (EADSF) about acquiring up to 50 A380 superjumbos in a deal that would be valued at $20B at list prices.

The transaction, which could be signed at the Dubai Air Show, would add to the 90 A380s that Emirates has already booked.

The order could save the A380 from receiving no firm bookings this year.

Meanwhile, Airbus is in talks with suppliers about lowering the thrust of the engines of the A330 wide-body regional jet and reducing the plane's weight. The idea is to make the aircraft more suitable for high-frequency operations.
