Globe Specialty Metals raises silicon alloy capacity by 30% via deal

Globe Specialty Metals (GSM +3.8%) says it has acquired Silicon Technology, a silicon alloy producer in South Africa with annual production capacity of 45M metric tons.

GSM says the deal increases its silicon alloy capacity by 30%, and its strategic location will enable it to supplement the Argentina facility to service European, Asian and Middle Eastern markets.
