Einhorn discloses 2.2% stake in Micron, shares +0.7% AH

A few days after David Einhorn announced Greenlight Capital has taken a position in Micron (MU), Greenlight has disclosed it owns 23M shares of the DRAM/NAND flash vendor. That's good for a 2.2% stake. (13F)

Micron had already shot higher in response to Einhorn's original disclosure, which was backed up by a bull thesis centering around DRAM industry consolidation.

So, Einhorn is in for 2.3 million shares.
On Thursday the stock traded up a buck and change on 50 million share over average. The Market Makers must have taken some pretty large gas on that little disclosure. Being the suppliers of last resort, the MMs might have been forced into a short position of between 0 and 50 million shares. Probably an uncomfortable position of around 25 million shares.
I thought Einhorn was being quite the gentleman by not saying how big the position was on Thursday, thus giving the MMs a couple days to "get right" (get their shorts covered) with the market prior to the next leg up on Micron and Einhorn's next disclosure.

So that was what the down was all about today. I hope no one I like was scared into selling.
