What would be the reason for this? They have no debt, no real need to do this

Since they have no debt and make around 5 to 6 billion a year, why do they need to offer 8 million new shares???? Doesn't this go against the grain of the buyback that they announced in their last conference call???? Can somebody please help me out here???

$V was owned by a consortium of banks. Maybe one of them is selling their remaining stake

Prior shorts are buying the stock since this is obviously a rumor that makes no sense. Visa is buying their own stock.

I called their "I R Manager" today. This story is "Not True". They did not issue 8 million new shares. We can all relax now.

There was an article floating on TickerReport yesterday:

    http://bit.ly/1g4kUrD

Basically, the author screwed up and put V from NYSE instead of the right symbol of the stock he was talking about. As a result, the "automatic" fill ins made it look like the stock got a price target of $2 or a 99% drop. Some fund manager's computer software must have latched on to that and initiated a bunch of automatic selling. All of the shares were moving from JPMorgan and it seems like 20% of that 8 million share pile sold before someone realized what happened over there. Shares recovered a decent clip after that but the overall market was down on DecTaper fears.

This "offering" is not anyone printing new shares- it's shares already owned by a large fund.

P.S. the stock the author was intending to discuss a Zacks's price target of $2 on a 20 cent stock on the Toronto exchange. Skin Cancer company of some sort.

Well, with that out of the bag and hearts are beating at a normal rate, could someone tell me why this stock hasn't split yet?

    Just curious...
