30-year fixed-rate mortgage jumps to three-month high

  • The average rate for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage jumped to 4.46%, hitting the highest rate since mid-September, from 4.29% in the prior week, according to Freddie Mac's latest weekly survey; a year ago, the rate averaged 3.34%
  • The average rate for the 15-year fixed rose to 3.47% from 3.30% in the prior week; the rate was 2.67% a year ago.
  • Rates rose following stronger than expected data releases on jobs and housing, Freddie Mac says.
