SABMiller Chairman dies of cancer

SABMiller (SBMRY) Chairman Graham Mackay has passed away following a battle with cancer and will be replaced by acting chairman John Manser with immediate effect.

Manser will delay his retirement by a year to July 2015 while the world's second-largest brewer looks for a candidate for the long term.

Mackay, who was 64 and had spent 35 years at SABMiller, took a second leave of absence last month due to a worsening of his health; he had returned to work after being off for five months earlier this year following surgery for a brain tumor in April.

SABMiller shares are +1% in London. (PR)
