VirnetX higher after USPTO denies Apple patent review petitions

The USPTO has denied seven petitions from Apple that sought the review of certain claims within four VirnetX (VHC +2.1%) patents. The agency claims Apple's petitions weren't filed within the time limit for a review. (PR)

VirnetX obtained a $368M jury verdict a year ago for an IP suit filed against Apple related to VPN patents, and is still battling with the tech giant over royalty rates. Apple has developed a FaceTime workaround to avoid using a VirnetX patent, but it comes at a cost.

And with the add on costs while we sit and wait for the running rate % from the Judge ups the total to almost $440M...this is on top of the $200M from MSFT last year.

It would be good to know why Apple didn't file within the allotted time.
