  • TechCrunch reports AOL (AOL +2.2%) is "finalizing negotiations" to sell age-old MP3/media player Winamp and Internet radio service Shoutcast to a buyer who will keep both products alive. Microsoft was previously reported to be interested in acquiring the products.
  • AOL announced last month that Winamp, once wildly popular with consumers and still maintaining a cult following, would be shutting down.
  • TechCrunch's report comes a few days after the NYT reported AOL is planning to shut down its Patch local news sites after downsizing them earlier this year; AOL called the story inaccurate, and said it continues to hold Patch-related talks with potential partners.
