it is frustrating to go up only 120 Dow points a day . . . I expect a minimum of 150-200 per day

Small gain is turning into a big gain. S&P 1850 should fall tomorrow

Still 'Quiet' waters run deep ... be aware of the 10-year hitting 3.0% today for the first time since July 2011. The under-performing small caps seem to understand the significance of that today.

The 4Q earnings starting up in a couple of weeks had better be outstanding!

back in the day when the fed funds rate had modest single digits in front of the decimal point, there was an old saw that when the Fed started tightening, the markets held up fine until the third tightening. In our kinder gentler present, where "tapering" has to stand in for "tightening" perhaps the third tapering in February or march will do the trick.
