- "We're viewed as the Switzerland of data integration," says Informatica (INFA) CEO Sohaib Abbasi in an interview discussing his company's growth opportunities. Whereas data integration software rivals as IBM, Oracle, and Teradata are motivated to cross-sell their databases and business intelligence software, Informatica has no such agenda.
- Abbasi also talks up Informatica's ability to work with a variety of analytics solutions, including SAP's Hana in-memory database, Amazon's Redshift data warehousing service, and Qlik and Tableau's analytics/data visualization software (previous). 1K+ customers are claimed for the company's Informatica Cloud integration service.
- Redshift, which launched a year ago, is viewed as a long-term threat to other data warehousing software firms.
- Abbasi spends plenty of time talking about the potential of Informatica's Vibe "virtual data machine" to simplify the process of moving data from one system/analytics platform to another, and says more Vibe product announcements are on the way. "[Vibe] is a very novel concept ... We believe data infrastructure requires dramatic simplification."
