High-tech mystery at Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola (KO -1.6%) reportedly reserved a giant block of 16M MAC addresses which could conceivably be used in the future for tagging physical devices or vending machines.

The company has already created a ripple in the soft drink industry with its Freestyle machine that is a sophisticated touchscreen soda dispenser popping up at more restaurant chains.

Tech sites will have plenty of theories on where Coca-Cola is going in the digital world, but for now the company is mum.

I used one of the new Freestyle vending machines the other day. Pretty slick! Expecting to see many more in the future.

KO is my biggest holding and I plan to accumulate even more shares in 2014 (in addition to the sweet divy re-investments!).
