Pharmacy sales lift Walgreen in December

Walgreen (WAG) reports it had sales in December of $7.2B, up 7.% from last year.

The drugstore operator saw customer traffic at comparable stores fall 1.3%, but the slip was offset by a 3.8% increase in average basket size by customers.

Comparable store pharmacy sales rose 9% during the period.
