Senate confirms Yellen to lead Fed

With the 50th Yes vote being cast in the Senate, Janet Yellen is officially confirmed as head of the Federal Reserve, becoming the first woman to take the position.

The tally now stands at 55 Yes to 27 No - the question becomes whether Yellen will surpass Bernanke's record 30 No's as the votes continue to roll in.
