Skoda to shift into a higher gear this year

Volkswagen brand Skoda thinks it will be on a pace to sell 1M cars in 2014 as it ramps up production of new models.

The Czech automaker had a tough 2013, but saw some late sales momentum that it anticipates will carry forward.

Skoda is viewed by Volkswagen (VLKAY) as a way to enter some European markets with a budget alternative to its pricier brands.
