Ctrip dives on CLSA downgrade, Qunar also off

A CLSA downgrade to Underperform has led Ctrip (CTRP -5.5%) to add to its 2014 losses; shares are now down 23% YTD. Chinese online travel rival Qunar (QUNR -6.3%) is also off sharply.

Ctrip and Qunar both fell hard yesterday as well. Concerns about the sales/margin pressure caused by strong promotional activity (particularly on mobile) could be a factor.

Buying tickets on CTRIP is the best!

In fact I bought a ticket close to noon and was delivered and paid for less than 2 hours later.

I like using Ctrip when I travel back to China. Their price for hotels are about the same as those offered by Expedia, however, the big advantage of using Ctrip to book hotel in China is, I think a lot of people didn't notice it, is you don't have to prepay for your hotel booking, you can pay when you finally there at the hotel. this worked great for me for my recent trip to China. I booked my hotel several months in advance, yet my credit card is not charged until I checked out from the hotel. You are practically looking at delayed payment of hundreds of dollars right there. And Ctrip also has great cancellation policies on hotel booking.
