Lions Gate (LGF -0.2%) reports The Hunger Games: Catching Fire has earned $409M in the U.S. to become the highest-grossing film of any 2013 release.

The movie also passed the first Hunger Games flick on its way to becoming one of the 13 biggest earners ever in North America.

Shares of LGF have struggled to reach their elevated levels seen about a month before the movie's debut and have slipped back below $30 today.

Media analysts note that valuation on Lions Gate is in line with other studio-driven media stocks.
