GM close to reinstating dividend

General Motors (GM) is "the closest it has been" to issuing its first dividend since the financial crisis in mid-2008, CFO Dan Ammann said yesterday, ahead of the Detroit Auto Show.

"It's clear to us that investors are anticipating a dividend," said Ammann, who was speaking at the unveiling of the GMC Canyon mid-sized pick-up truck.

they do have a product in a segment currently operated one. now we'll see if they can charge 50,000 bucks for each one and make it work. i'm skeptical. i think Ford and South Korea are taking are far more challenging yet rewarding walk down the "innovation trail" which says to me "pricing" can be more...fungible.

I like what GM is offering the public and they have or are going to introduce over 30 new models. I bought their stock last week with the hope they will start paying a dividend again.

The xenophobia that is played between GM and Ford should stop, they are both high quality companies.
