Allot ticks higher following net neutrality ruling

A federal appeals court's decision to strike down the FCC's net neutrality rules has provided a lift to Allot's (ALLT +1.9%) shares.

By prohibiting wireline carriers from giving preferential treatment to different types of data traffic, net neutrality rules have hurt U.S. sales of Allot's deep packet inspection hardware.

The ruling could also benefit Allot rival Procera (PKT -0.2%), which issued a Q4 warning a week ago. But Procera gets a larger portion of its sales from mobile carriers, for whom the FCC's rules don't apply.

Update (11:21AM): Allot is now up 7.4%, and Procera is up 6.2%.
